Dec. 31 Deadline for Membership Renewal
National CASA appreciates your commitment to best interest advocacy for abused and neglected children in your community.

To remain a member in good standing with access to member benefits, your 2018 membership dues must be paid by Dec. 31, 2017. New this year – pay your invoice online. To do so, visit your program’s profile on www.casaforchildren.org.

Please let Member Services know right away if you did not receive your invoice or you have other questions: memberservices@casaforchildren.org.

Use the Annual Report in Your Communications
Kudos to the programs that have posted links to the 2016 National CASA annual report on your websites or social media pages. It’s important to provide fresh information and numbers in communications with your stakeholders. If you haven’t done so yet, here’s the link to the interactive online version: https://annualreport2016.casaforchildren.org/

There’s also a printable PDF version for your use. Thanks!

End-of-Year Fundraising Toolkit

National CASA would like to share with you elements of our year-end “Because of You” fundraising campaign. We created this campaign to recognize the incredible impact of our donors and supporters who fuel the work we do and the impact our volunteer movement has on the lives of vulnerable children. We hope these cards, email templates, graphics, and social media assets will be useful in your final donor and stakeholder outreach efforts of 2017.

You can find additional templates and tools, including last year's "Give Hope" fundraising toolkit on the member portal of the National CASA website.

All of us at National CASA look forward to a productive year of collaboration as we work to build awareness and understanding of the CASA/GAL mission and increase public engagement in our work. Wishing you a successful end to 2017!

Watch Our Facebook Page on Thanksgiving Week
In the week before Giving Tuesday on Nov. 28, National CASA will share stories on Facebook that celebrate the impact CASA and GAL volunteers have on the children they serve. We encourage you to share these posts with your program’s followers or post stories from your program’s volunteers in the lead-up to Giving Tuesday. Here’s one of the resource links we previously shared: The Complete Giving Tuesday Toolkit from Giving Tuesday.

Heads Up on 2018 National Conference
The gears are turning in preparation for the March 10-13, 2018 National CASA/GAL Conference at the Boston Sheraton Hotel.

Registration opens this Friday, Nov. 17. We will send a special network announcement that day with more details. You also can monitor the conference website at this link: http://conference.casaforchildren.org/

The conference theme will be Working Together for Their Best Interests. This year, the format will feature a combination of familiar and new approaches as we incorporate feedback from past attendees and work to take this important gathering to the next level.

Workshop proposals have been selected. We are in the process of notifying presenters now. Thanks to everyone who submitted session ideas in October. The wealth of knowledge and perspectives reflected in the proposals made the selection process difficult!

Questions? Contact us through conference@casaforchildren.org.

Andrea Bruns, state director of the Kentucky CASA Network (KCN), is thankful for the 65 staff and volunteers who helped with this October’s annual 200-mile Kentucky Bourbon Chase Ragnar Relay Race. KCN was one of the recognized charities for the fourth consecutive year. The state organization has raised more than $100,000 since 2016 through its Run for CASA efforts.

Around 300 Spider Mans, Wonder Womans, Captain Americas and other superheroes braved 40-degree temperatures to participate in the Eighth Annual CASA Superhero Run in October organized by CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County, Texas.
Our Facebook page regularly features program news from around the country. Check it out and tell us about what’s going on with your program so we can share.

Keeping Volunteers Engaged, Satisfied and Evolving
This is the current featured topic in Everyone Ready, a portal of volunteer management resources available to all member programs. The module includes defining “retention;” why volunteers stay or do not; assuring continual informal recognition; annual formal appreciation; and “career ladders” for volunteers.

A variety of topics are archived for ongoing access as well.

Access the learning center here.

Resources for November’s National Adoption Month
November is National Adoption Month and this year’s focus is again on 15–18 year olds in foster care, specifically highlighting the importance of identifying, developing and supporting adoptive parents to become "no matter what" families for teens.

To help professionals in this process, the Child Welfare Information Gateway, in collaboration with AdoptUSKids, has gathered resources on this year’s National Adoption Month website to help child welfare agencies develop an effective response system that includes targeted recruitment, preparation and ongoing development and support of prospective and current adoptive parents.
