Tara Perry, Chief Executive Officer, National CASA Association

The National CASA Association envisions “a world where every abused and neglected child is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home”. That world can only be achieved by collaboration: all of us striving together to prevent child abuse and neglect where we can, and to mitigate the damage when it occurs despite our best efforts. Each of us has a role to play. Some are front-line roles like judges, attorneys, social workers and CASA/GAL volunteers who see children every day. Others, like the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its state and local member programs, legislators and the media, have strategic support roles to play. All are equally important in achieving safety, permanence and well-being for the children entrusted to our care.

This issue of the Judges’ Page focuses on the impact of CASA and GAL volunteers. Please take a few minutes to read it and return to the bench, or wherever your work takes you, informed, affirmed and inspired.

My respect, admiration and gratitude to all of you that work hard and serve children every day.
