ETO COMET Data Migration 

  The Data Migration Process

The migration process from COMET to ETO will be occurring over a two month period beginning in August with data cleaning in COMET occurring in August and the first migrations occurring during the month of September. Please see the diagram below for details for your staff:

 

Preparing Your Data for Migration:

The most important part of any migration process is ensuring the quality of the data that is transferred from the old database to the new database. All information transferred to the new database should be the most accurate and thorough information possible. This will increase the likelihood of promoting positive data entry practices in the new database.

NOTE: As COMET is a desktop database tool, it is possible that your CASA program has multiple data files of COMET on several computers. Social Solutions will only accept ONE set of data per CASA program. Therefore, in preparing your data for export, make sure that you migrate all current client information into ONE data file of COMET to be the master database for your organization. If you are unclear about how to do this process, please see below under the section “Important Information About COMET Export Tool” for information on how to receive support for this process.

 NOTE: In order to standardize ETO for reporting and for the data migration, the following document outlines the values which will be transferred for the fields below. Any value not listed in this document will fall into an “Other” category. For example- if you have an Ethnicity that is not in the standard list, it will be entered into a separate field called “Other Ethnicity.” If you have values that are outside of this standard list and you don’t want to use the “Other” category, you will need to change the values in COMET to match the standard list.
