Keynote: Judge Glenda Hatchett
National CASA spokesperson and child welfare activist Judge Glenda Hatchett will open the 29th Annual National CASA Conference. Judge Hatchett is a nationally recognized authority on juvenile issues known for her award-winning television series Judge Hatchett and her book Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say!
Welcome by Georgia First Lady Mary Perdue
As First Lady, Mary Perdue (pictured at right) has focused on helping Georgia's children in state custody through the Our Children Campaign. The ultimate goal of the Our Children Campaign is to spur a new era of collaboration among Georgia's many communities: individuals, corporations, organizations, foundations and faith-based communities, and to increase the level of volunteerism on behalf of Georgia's children around the state.
Morning Session: Sunday, April 18, 8:00 - 9:30 a.m.
Older Youth—Fostering Futures Program
Fostering Futures is a new National CASA initiative, underwritten by the Walmart Foundation, to provide CASA/GAL programs with resources necessary to train and engage volunteer advocates to support youth. This session features a youth panel moderated by Kimberly Ellis, PhD. Panelists will share their experiences and thoughts about how advocates can help older youth who are preparing to transition from care.
Closing Session: Monday, April 19, 11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
